Cady is the only orphan living in Miss Mallory’s Home for Lost Girls. In the world that she lives in, almost everyone has a talent. Cady is a Talented cake baker. When she finally gets adopted by a man named Toby, who is eager to have a second chance at raising a child, Cady meets people with lives that remarkably intertwine with her own. There’s Marigold Asher, the girl with no talent, her brother, Zane, who is facing trouble at his school, their brother, Will, who seems to have a talent for getting lost, their mother, Dolores, who is hiding a surprising secret, V, the woman who can’t talk, and is missing her daughter, and the owner of the Lost Luggage Emporium, an awful thief. I liked how everyone’s story came together at the end of the story, and when Cady finds out who her real parents are. I would recommend this book to people from ages 8-12, and people who enjoyed the book Savvy by Ingrid Law.
