Kizzy Ann Stamps
4 out of 5
Kizzy Ann Stamps is a black girl living in Virginia in 1963. The schools in her town are beginning to integrate, and Kizzy is worried about starting the new school year at a new school, and with a new teacher. She writes to Miss Anderson, her new teacher, and as Kizzy gets to know Miss Anderson, Miss Anderson gets to know Kizzy. Shag, Kizzy’s border collie dog, has always been who she’s admired most, and Shag helps her through her first year at an integrated school. I liked that this book was written in letters from Kizzy to Miss Anderson. I would recommend this book to girls and boys from ages 9-13
