It was unnecessarily long, as with a lot of epic fantasy, but still great. The vast majority of the excitement happened in the latter 1/4 or 1/3 of the book, so that means the first 600 ish pages are kind of a drag. It’s worth it to watch the chaos after Joffrey dies. The last few chapters are intense, and the buildup actually makes it all better. Highly recommended. I will definitely be reading the next two (four) books.
