The Penderwicks on Gardam Street
5 out of 5
In The Penderwicks on Gardam Street, the sequel to The Penderwicks, the four Penderwick sisters are back from Arundel, a beautiful summer home, and at their house in Cameron, Massachusetts. Mr. Penderwick has received a letter written by his wife, nearly five years before, just before she died of cancer that says that he should start dating again. There are new neighbors next door, Iantha Aaronson and her baby son, Ben, who soon become Batty’s new friends. Skye and Jane have swapped homework assignments, a plan that ends in, in Skye’s opinion, total disaster. All four sisters are determined to stop their father from finding them a possible stepmother, and so the Save-Daddy Plan comes to life.
This book was really funny, and I liked it when Batty taught Ben about “Bug Man”, who all her sisters think is all in Batty’s imagination, but is he?
I loved this book, and would recommend it to girls ages 7 to about 12.
