The Penderwicks at Point Mouette

The Penderwicks at Point Mouette

Jeanne Birdsall

5 out of 5

In The Penderwicks at Point Mouette, the sequel to The Penderwicks and The Penderwicks on Gardam Street, the Penderwick family is going on vacation. Mr. Penderwick, his new wife, Iantha, and her son, Ben are going to England, Rosalind is going to New Jersey with her friend, Anna, and the remaining sisters, Skye, Jane, and Batty are going to Maine with their Aunt Claire, and their friend Jeffrey. With Rosalind gone, Skye is the Oldest Available Penderwick, or the OAP, and is left with the task of taking care of five-year-old Batty, a seemingly impossible job. Jane is writing yet another book, Jeffrey is teaching Batty about music, and Batty seems to be learning fast. There is also the mystery of Alec McGrath, also on vacation at Point Mouette. Who does he remind the three sisters of? And will they ever find out?
I liked the ending, where Jeffrey finally meets his father, a man he has never known. I would recommend this book to kids 7-12 years old.
